Stony Live 2004 Saturday June 5th

Welcome to 2004, and I am striving to keep up the tradition of  getting photographs and complements out as fast as I can. The problem is I am getting older, the festival is getting bigger, and I taking more photographs. All in all making increasingly difficult to update you with the goings on in the time you want it.

The challenge also lies in what you should take pictures of. Suffice it to say that Saturday was a brilliant start to this festival with plenty of people going to plenty of events.  I had some fun during the day organising the busking. It nearly didn't happen because of troubles with the stage but after a few phone calls and much help from the people of the management committee and Stony Live Stewards we managed to put something on.

The ideas of the busking stage is to give people a chance to play and to enable them to get the feel of this great festival. We had a wide variety of people from the dulcet tones of Malcolm Jones to the hard blues of Steve Neale. We even had or own version of Norah Jones with Laura Wood who did a great job of playing the keyboard and singing some jazz classics.

This year the Crown has got an outdoor beer tent and we hoped we would attract a lot more people to the bard dance,. As you can see from he pictures a lot of people turned up. I always enjoy the fact that so many people of all ages can join in.

The events of the evening were also very good. I popped up to see Jim Faulpel just as he was launching into some Muddy Waters blues on his steel guitar. I wish I could stay longer but I had to move on to the a new Stony Live Venue of the Football Club. This venue is aimed at younger audiences and we had a band called Kill Disney and Bunty on their. I walked in just as the lead singer of  Bunty was getting the audience into some synchronised swaying.  I finished the evening  with seeing some old frioends in the Fox and Hounds. Pete Crips, Andy Bridgeman et al in Sometimes Salvation. Good solid rock music. It was packed and a goodnight was had by all. More tonight. Not sure If I am going to survive but what the heck.... See you tomorrow
