Diary Saturday June 8th 2002Well its started so we will move the updates into real time. Well almost real-time. I’ve been so busy (drunk) over a great weekend that I haven’t had chance to update this. Stony Live kicked off with an incredible performance from the ever young Hole in the Head Gang. In the Duke of Wellington. (Thanks guys for the last minute venue, hope we drank lots of beer!!!) The atmosphere was electric. These guys hardly rehearse, only have two gigs a year and sound as good as they always have…. And that a long time.. Over 23 years!!!! However I missed half the performance because our Sister? Event (do events have a sex?) … Folk on the Green, got into a spot of bother with the lorry carrying the stage. It was dug in up to the axels in a field at the rear of York House. We did ask Bob Adams why it was parked there.. but mere grumbling was only heard. Still, the ever resourceful Keith Smith.. just happened to have a fixed tow bar we could use (of course he has I hear you say) and The delectable Katie, sporting her new Landrover.. coupled it up to the front of the sinking lorry. Throw in three lads from St John Ambulance, who just happen to be passing. And hey presto!.. Folk on the Green was saved. Then we trotted back to the Duke.. for a couple of beers.. and I even learnt a new Banjo rif from Alan Horten. What more could a man want. I then thought I’d pay The Fox and Hounds a visit in the evening to see the Blackjacks.. However they didn’t show! I hope it was a genuine mistake and that they are all ok. The evening was not without its delight. Ken turned the lights down and put some good music on and I had a very pleasant evening talking to Irene and Ian, Ken the landlord and Roddy, and I think there were a few other friends there as well. Of course music and Stony Live was the top of the discussion agenda.
